Ghanaian –founded Farmerline’s proprietary software, Mergdata has been named by TIME magazine, to be among the 100 Best inventions of 2019 that are making the world better, smarter and even a bit more fun.
According to a statement made available to Biztechafrica in Accra, to assembly the 20919 TIME Best Inventions list, TIME solicited nominations across a variety of categories from editors and correspondents around the world, as well as through an online application process.
“Each contender was then evaluated on key factors, including originality, effectiveness, ambition, and influence. The result: 100 groundbreaking inventions that are changing the way we live, work, play and think about what’s possible,” it said.
Mergdata is a web and mobile application that is powering over 200,000 farmers across 12 African countries.
The software’s modules for farmer profiling, mapping, certification, traceability, messaging and digital payments are used by over 60 organizations to qualify and provide farmers with the necessary resources they need to increase productivity and profit.
The Chief Technical Officer of Farmerline, Emmanuel O. Addai acknowledging his team efforts said “This is an endorsement of our avowed principle to use technology to solve the everyday problems of farmers across Africa. Kudos to our dedicated engineers, past and present, who have supported the vision all these years”.
