The inaugural Africa Digital Forum (ADF), organized by AIDEC Consultancies International Limited, is set to take place tomorrow, August 25, 2021, in Accra’s famous Best Western Premier Hotel, Airport Residential.

Wamlele Mene, Secretary-General of the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), and Hon. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, Minister of Communication and Digitalisation, who will deliver the keynote address, will be honoured guests of honour at the event, which will be chaired by Prof. Nii Narku Quaynor, dubbed “Africa’s Father of the Internet.”

The Forum dubbed the Accra Edition and themed ā€˜The Digital Challenge: Africa’s Opportunity Under AfCFTA,’ will bring together key stakeholders from policy, regulation, industry, and academia to discuss the necessity, challenges, and opportunities of digitalization in realizing the continent-wide free trade area’s potential.

The Forum will also examine policy directions that can help Ghana and other AfCFTA countries achieve economic turnarounds, project timelines for these policy directions to start yielding visible results, and advice on how Ghana and other AfCFTA countries can avoid policy pitfalls that harm the economy.

Mr Ambrose Yennah, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AIDEC Consultancies International Limited, explained that Accra was chosen as the venue for the inaugural edition since it is now home to the AfCFTA Secretariat.

This gathering of regulators, academics, and business people, ranging from Club 100 companies to budding Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), as well as Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), will ensure that the most pressing issues confronting all stakeholders are discussed and solutions offered,ā€ he explained.

ā€œWe are quite worried about using digitalization to ensure that goods and services satisfy the required requirements, particularly for the anglophone and francophone markets ā€“ which represent the continent’s largest ā€“ as well as other markets,ā€ he continued.

On a similar note, Prof. Robert Yennah, Chairman of the Board of AIDEC Consultancies International Limited, remarked that the Forum will provide a venue for regulators to sensitize actors in their respective spaces on policy issues. It would also give a perfect platform for indigenous institutions focused on digital solutions for businesses to display their products and services.

ā€œWe’ve been able to bring together some of the top indigenous people resources in the field of ICT, who can provide solutions to both large multinational enterprises and small businesses seeking to enter the digital world.ā€

Stakeholders from the manufacturing, banking, fintech, and real estate industries, as well as start-ups, entrepreneurs, and retail investors, will attend the inaugural Africa Digital Forum (ADF), which will be webcast across all major platforms.
