October 4th 2016 Google’s Pixel Event

Reading Time: 3 minutes

For some months now some of us have been waiting for today. What makes today special is that we see and get details about products Google spoke of at this year’s I/O 16. And a new phone they call Pixel. Yes Pixel!! As some of you might know Pixel is the replacement for Nexus line

Pixel ‘phone by Google’ announced

Google’s new Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones are now finally official. Differentiated primarily by the size and resolution of their screens — 5-inch 1080p display on the Pixel and 5.5-inch Quad HD panel on the XL — these two devices are built entirely b Google. Both Pixel models are powered by the latest Snapdragon 821 processor and run a specialized version of Google’s Android software, which includes support for the Daydream virtual reality platform that was announced at Google I/O in the summer.

Daydream View headset

Google has just unveiled the first headset for its Daydream VR platform: Daydream View, shipping in November for ghs 314.42. Daydream View is both a consumer product and a general reference design for all future Daydream headsets, which Google hopes will proliferate next year. It’s the same device we saw as a line drawing a few months ago at I/O, when Google first announced Daydream. But we now know a lot more about what’s actually shipping next month.

Daydream View’s body is made of foam and soft fabric, with a hinged plastic panel where you place an Android phone. Google says it weighs 220 grams, making it significantly lighter than the competing Gear VR headset. Currently, Daydream is only working on Google’s new Pixel and Pixel XL phones.

Google Wifi

Meet Google WiFi, a router designed entirely in-house… . Apart from being much smaller (no vase-like design here), its big trick is its ability to create an Eero-style mesh network. You only have to add additional units to your network to improve coverage — there’s a Network Assistant app that makes it easy to add more routers and improve your signal.

Companion software also lets you control the devices linked to the router, such as enabling or disabling their connections. You’ll have to wait until December to get Google WiFi (pre-orders start in November), but the pricing at least hits the sweet spot. Routers cost Ghs 513.42 each, and you can get a three-pack for Ghs 1190.02 if you need to blanket your home.

Google Home

Google Home goes on sale next month for Ghs513.42. Google announced its smart home assistant at I/O in May, but today Google Home finally got a price and a release date. Home will ship on November 4th and cost Ghs513.42, with a three-pack for Ghs1190.02. That’s a very deliberate shot at the Amazon Echo (currently going for Ghs712.42), and given Google’s new smart assistant features, it will be interesting to see how the two products stack up. Home is also designed to work with multiple units in a single house, although the team is still working on support for multiple Google accounts. It also comes with a free six-month trial of YouTube Red.
