GitHub, which is owned by Microsoft, was down for more than two hours, hurting thousands, if not millions, of developers who rely on its various services. At 3:45 p.m. ET, GitHub began experiencing problems, affecting Git operations, API queries, GitHub actions, packages, pages, and pull requests.
On the GitHub status page, an incident update stated, “We’re investigating faults affecting most GitHub services.” “We’re looking into it right now and will inform you as soon as we can.”
After being down for more than two hours, Git operations, API queries, webhooks, pull requests, GitHub actions, GitHub packages, and GitHub pages are now fully operational.

GitHub presently has over 73 million developers who use the service for Git version control and hosting for software development. GitHub is a big code repository that has grown in popularity among developers and businesses who use it to house complete projects and code. GitHub is used by Apple, Amazon, Google, Facebook, and a slew of other major IT companies.
GitHub hosts more than 100 million repositories, so any downtime affects a big number of businesses. Last year, GitHub fell down for two hours due to faults that caused the service to go down. This new outage comes just weeks after previous GitHub CEO Nat Friedman stepped down, and the company is still run as a separate Microsoft-owned corporation.
