Academy App Wins MTN Ayoba Hackathon Ghana 2021

On the 17th of September, the much-anticipated Grand Finale of the MTN Ayoba Hackathon Ghana 2021 took place, with Academy App taking home Ghc 20,000.00 and other prizes.

A competition aimed at promoting and supporting young app developers in Ghana has honed the skills of competitors who were chosen from a pool of 271 applicants. The Academy App was named the best overall app.

Among all the other Apps in the competition, Prince Owusu’s Academy App stood out. The App is a learning tool designed to alleviate stress in Ghanaian classrooms. It gives pupils the opportunity to learn about any subject they like. With an engaging user experience, features that make learning more exciting.

The top three apps from the five qualifiers got cash prizes of GHC20,000.00, GHC10,000.00, and GHC8,000.00 for first, second, and third place, respectively, in the Ayoba Hackaton Grand Finale. Academy took home the top prize, with Amerya and Stride coming in second and third, respectively.

The contestants were overjoyed with MTN Ghana’s support for Ghana’s tech sector at the conclusion of the tournament. MTN Ghana is a firm believer in the future of technology and has a track record of delivering innovative ideas.

The Ayoba Super App houses all of the apps created by participants at the recently concluded #AyobaHackGh, allowing them to tap into MTN Ghana’s over million databases to help them reach their target audience.
The winner of the #AyobaHackathonGrandeFinale, Prince Owusu, revealed his surprise victory. He claims that the competition was fierce and that he did not expect to place first. His next step would be to refine his app concept. Hopefully, the Ghanaian educational system will be able to use this program to make it easier for pupils to learn
