Angela Kyerematen-Jimoh Joins Bank Of Ghana Board

President Akufo-Addo has sworn in Angela Kyerematen-Jimoh as a member of the Bank of Ghana’s Governing Board.

The president convened the swearing-in at Jubilee House on Friday, August 20, 2021, when he charged the board to use their various expertise and abilities to promote the bank’s agenda and help establish policies necessary for the bank’s objectives to be met.

Angela is presently the Executive Director/Regional Head for IBM North, East, and West Africa, where she is responsible for the organization’s business and strategy throughout 35 African countries. She is an international business leader with local and international experience. She is the first African woman and the first woman to hold this position.

She has worked in numerous business units in East and West Africa since joining IBM Ghana in 2011. Angela was also IBM’s strategy leader for Central, East, and West Africa, and in 2015, she became the first female Country General Manager for IBM Ghana, making her Africa’s first female country manager and allowing her to broker some of the continent’s largest transactions. As Chief of Staff to the SVP of Global Markets at IBM’s headquarters in the United States of America, Angela had a global role.

She worked in the UK for UBS Investment Bank and ABN AMRO Bank before joining IBM.

Angela also worked as a Marketing Executive for GL Trade, a major software firm, in London and Northern Europe. She then worked for GT Bank Ghana as the Head of Consumer Banking and for UBA Bank Ghana as the Head of Prestige Banking.

She has received the Global Impact Leadership Award from the US African Women Forum, the African Achievers Awards for Excellence in Business, and has been named one of Africa’s most prominent women by Avance Media.

She has served on numerous boards, including those of Allianz Insurance Ltd, Bayport Savings and Loans PLC, US Africa Business Center (US Chamber of Commerce), AMCHAM Ghana, Impact Investing Ghana Ltd, Student Loans Trust Fund, and others.

Angela is the proud mother of two sons, a Harvard Business School alumna, and a Wesley Girls High School and Achimota College graduate.

The Bank of Ghana board will be chaired by Dr Ernest Addison, the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, and will include Dr Maxwell Opoku-Afari, Elsie Addo Awadzi, Charles Kofi Adu Boahen, Angela Kyerematen-Jimoh, Professor Eric Osei Assibey, Comfort Ocran, Dr Kwame Owusu-Nyantekyi, Dr Samuel Nii-Noi Ashong, Jude Ko
