Google TV rolls out new Watch With Me series for celeb-curated streaming

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Google TV has introduced a new celebrity-curated Watch With Me series, presumably in response to our collective content fatigue. This should make finding something to watch a bit easier.

The Watch With Me series, according to Google, will feature shows and movies that musicians and artists enjoy. Watch With Me will feature conversations with the curators about why they hand-picked a specific title to be broadcast, in addition to displaying celebrities’ favorite films.

Although Google TV’s algorithm is quite excellent at finding related titles, the goal is for these hosts to be able to lead users through a selection of films that have inspired them.

The hub is yet another location to go to find something interesting to watch, and the contextualization of each film may help viewers discover a title they might have otherwise overlooked on the site.

Google TV isn’t the first streaming service to have celebrity-curated hubs. HBO Max employs the style to highlight fan favorites from celebrities such as Gal Gadot and Zack Snyder, and YouTube has also dabbled with it.

The new Google TV series will premiere with a selection of films chosen by actress Laverne Cox, including Moonlight, The Color Purple, Pretty in Pink, and The Matrix, among others. The watchlist will be available “over the next few days,” according to Google, and once you have it, you can find it in the For You part of the platform.
