Just In: Google’s Pixel event: Everything we expect to see today

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Today, Google will hold an event to introduce its new Pixel phones, but there’s a chance the corporation will do more. Yes, Google is releasing the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, and it has made no attempt to hide the fact. According to other sources, Google may also be releasing a Pixel Fold, a Pixel Watch, and a new Pixel Pass subscription.

Where to watch the Pixel Fall launch event

Today is the Pixel Fall Launch, which starts at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET. Where will you be able to view the event? On Google’s Pixel event landing page or on YouTube, you can watch it live. We’ll also be covering everything that’s announced, though we don’t expect too many significant surprises considering the size of the leaks.

Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro

The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are unquestionably the stars of the show. Although Google has essentially launched them and published a lot of information about them, the firm has kept some cards close to its vest, despite leaks. The Pixel 6 is expected to cost $599, while the Pixel 6 Pro is expected to cost $898.

If the current pricing rumors are true, Google’s upcoming phones will be less expensive than other flagship phones such as the iPhone 13.

Google is leaning into the strength of its hardware in a way it didn’t with the Pixel 5 last year, with enormous 6.4 and 6.7-inch screens, powerful camera systems, Tensor chips geared for AI/ML, and wacky colors.

Pixel Pass

According to reports, Google is also working on a Pixel Pass. According to documents provided by tech YouTuber Brandon Lee, this would be a combination of offers comparable to Apple’s iPhone Upgrade Program and the Apple One service into one Google offers.

YouTube Premium, Google’s Play Pass app and game subscription service, Google’s Fi cellular service, and Google One, as well as a Pixel phone financing plan, appear to be limited to the United States.

Pixel Fold

Google is also said to be unveiling the so-called Pixel Fold, which would be the company’s first foldable phone, though it’s less likely to emerge than the Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. Although it is unknown whether the Pixel Fold will be unveiled at this event, renowned leaker Evan Blass claims that the device will be unveiled before the end of the year, making it plausible. Google is said to be working on Android 12.1 with improved foldable functionality, and the firm is known for releasing hardware ahead of time – as the Pixel 6 demonstrates.

Pixel Watch

The supposed Pixel Watch has also been highly rumored, but its appearance is far from certain. It’s been a long time coming, with Jon Prosser’s renders leaking this year. To add to the confusion, Google announced an improvement to the Wear OS experience this year in collaboration with Samsung.

While Samsung’s version of Wear OS 3 is significantly flavored and branded as One UI Watch, it’s understandable that Google would explore launching its own smartwatch platform. According to reports, Google could merely announce the Pixel Watch and then ship it later due to chip shortages and anticipated delays. Whatever the case may be, today is October 19th, and we can’t wait to see what Google has in store for us in just a few hours.
