Reading Time: 2 minutes

SAMSUNG: With companies vying on the most up-to-date features and larger numbers frequently serving as important differentiators between devices and brands, Samsung has taken steps to strengthen a component that many brands overlook: long-term software support.

The South Korean tech giant has announced that software security support for its handsets launched in 2019 and after would be extended. These phones will now receive security updates for the next four years. Samsung’s flagship S, Z, and Fold series, as well as the Note series, the A-series, M-series, and a few more devices, are all supported.

It’s important to note that these are security patches rather than Android OS updates. While you won’t get the next four Android versions on your phone, four years of security patches will help keep your smartphone secure for longer. Please keep in mind that the frequency of updates for all supported phones may vary. While some devices may receive monthly security patch updates, others may receive quarterly updates.

Amongst Samsung’s folding lineup, the Galaxy Fold, Fold 5G, Z Fold2, Z Fold2 5G, Z Flip, and Z Flip 5G are supported.
