Nvidia Reportedly Halts Production Of RTX 3090 Ti Graphics Card

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, the company’s most powerful graphics card to date, will be released soon. During its CES 2022 address, the business discussed the card briefly.

While many are eagerly anticipating the debut of Nvidia’s new gaming powerhouse, a fresh leak claims that development may have been temporarily halted.

According to TweakTown, an unknown source has informed them of Nvidia’s decision to stop producing the RTX 3090 Ti graphics card. Nvidia has urged its board partners to halt the production of custom RTX 3090 Ti cards, according to the source. Because the source was unable to verify the basis for the decision, all that is left is speculation.

There could be various reasons for Nvidia’s decision to put the RTX 3090 Ti on hold. There may be issues with the silicon, according to TweakTown. It’s also not unreasonable to believe that the ongoing GPU shortage could play a role, though this would likely only delay rather than halt manufacturing.

VideoCardz also claims its own sources to confirm that Nvidia has decided to suspend production for the time being, citing hardware and BIOS issues as the primary reasons for the decision. It’s unclear whether Nvidia’s board partners will need to make any changes to the graphics cards that have already been manufactured.

The RTX 3090 Ti’s release date has yet to be confirmed by Nvidia. While the cheap RTX 3050 (introduced at CES 2022) was given a concrete launch date of January 27, its considerably more powerful sister was only referenced briefly during Nvidia’s introduction. Nonetheless, prior speculations suggested that both cards would be released on January 27, but that appears to have fallen through – if it was ever the plan to begin with.

Nvidia has stated that it will release more information regarding the card later this month. There is still a lot of data to be filled in: We don’t know anything about the card’s specifications other from its official release date. The ultra-high-end GPU will have 24GB of 21GB/s GDDR6X memory for a total bandwidth of 1TB/s. There will be 320 Tensor cores, 40 shader cores, and 78 ray tracing cores on the chip.

Apart from the aforementioned, rumors say that the new Nvidia GPU will have 10,752 CUDA cores and a TDP of 450 watts. Custom variants of the GPU, on the other hand, may be significantly more power hungry, with TDPs of over 1000W predicted.

Because Nvidia has yet to make an official announcement on the subject, there’s no way of knowing when the new RTX 3090 Ti will be available. Thankfully, we should learn more about Nvidia’s plans later this month.
